Family Birth Center rated among BEST in the nation by Newsweek

Boulder Community Health’s Family Birth Center at Foothills Hospital is among the top hospitals in the nation for maternity care, according to Newsweek’s America’s Best Maternity Hospitals 2022. The elite list is divided into two performance categories: five-ribbon hospitals (161 institutions) and four-ribbon hospitals (189 institutions). Our Family Birth Center was among the 161 facilities that achieved a five-ribbon performance.

Hospitals were evaluated on three data points: a nationwide online survey that asked hospital managers and maternity health care professionals (e.g., OB/GYNs) to recommend leading facilities for maternity care; medical key performance indicator data relevant to the field (e.g., a hospital's rate of cesarean births); and, patient satisfaction data (e.g., how patients rated a hospital's medical staff for responsiveness and communication).

BCH’s Family Birth Center was previously recognized in the inaugural U.S. News & World Report’s Best Hospitals for Maternity list released in December 2021. It was one of only 14 Colorado hospitals considered high performing.

The Family Birth Center is also Baby-Friendly, a designation sponsored by the World Health Organization and United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and promoted by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE). The Baby-Friendly USA Certification means BCH earned recognition for its expertise in giving babies a healthy start in life.
