BCH Lecture: Warning Signs of Postpartum Depression 1/25/22

  • Category: Maternity Care

The fourth trimester: what you should know

The fourth trimester — the critical time between birth and 12 weeks postpartum — can be a bumpy road of emotional changes. During the initial days, many new birth parents experience baby blues, which are short-term dips in mood. But some new parents experience feelings of sadness or hopelessness that stick around and can be a sign of postpartum depression.

Hear two BCH certified nurse-midwives describe what happens during the fourth trimester. Then learn how to distinguish between what’s a normal amount of baby blues versus postpartum depression.
