Nearly 300 people attended the BCH Foundation Gala on Saturday, May 18th. In an incredible show of support, our guests, sponsors, and donor community raised $1,055,000 at the Spring Gala. The funds raised at this event will support Boulder Community Health in expanding services supporting individuals and families navigating aging in Boulder. We are excited to share the many ways that BCH and BCH Foundation are addressing the needs of our older adult community and their families through state-of-the-art services, facilities and care teams.
Boulder County is home to nearly 34,000 residents over the age of 65, a number that is expected to steadily rise in the coming years. Based on BCH’s Community Health Needs Assessment, this demographic shift brings with it an increased demand for specialized health care services tailored to the unique needs of older adults. BCH plans to address this growing need by creating a cost-effective and sustainable Geriatric Care Clinic over the next three years. With the funds that were raised at the Spring Gala, BCH will continue to invest in the clinical needs and teams that support our aging community.
Dr. Liz Lycett, Geriatrics Medical Director & Primary Care at BCH - delivered the keynote speech at the event addressing this increasing need and her passion for caring for this population. In her address, she shared, “Geriatrics is a mindset of finding the medical path that optimizes the desired health span within the individual lifespan. As we look towards a future with expanded geriatric care at BCH that is both personal and scalable. We are focused on four key pillars: people, space, education and partnerships.”
