BCH announces new Chief Information Officer

Boulder Community Health (BCH) is pleased to announce that Teresa Cole, currently Associate Vice President of Technology and Value Chain at BCH, has accepted a new role as Vice President/Chief Information Officer (CIO). She will assume the role of CIO on June 17 following outgoing CIO Michael Jefferies’ departure. Jefferies, who has served as BCH’s CIO since 2016, is moving to the Netherlands with his family to pursue a unique opportunity to live abroad. He has founded a Dutch business and plans to continue his work in health care in Europe.

Cole joined BCH in 2016 as Director of Technical Services and quickly demonstrated integrity, tenacity and a true passion for supporting caregivers and improving patient care. During her tenure, Cole has made remarkable contributions that have allowed BCH to implement more advanced technologies year after year, including the launch of our Epic electronic health record, enabling us to make care safer and our operations more efficient. Her work with leaders across the organization has helped shape and execute a vision for technological excellence with tangible benefits to our staff, partners and patients, while engaging and empowering a workforce dedicated to bringing their best work forward.

Cole is a multi-faceted leader. When BCH had a need for a leader to oversee supply chain operations, she offered her expertise and expanded her duties into a unique dual role as Associate Vice President of Technology and Value Chain. Her work in this area has driven operational improvements across the organization, improving our ability to meet the needs of our patients and provide high-quality, safe and efficient care.

“Teresa has already made remarkable contributions during her time at BCH. I’m confident her energy and passion for people will take the IT team to a new level of success,” says Jefferies.

Cole’s career in IT spans 30 years with the last 12 being focused in health care. Prior to joining BCH, she held leadership positions in IT at Longmont United Health and Centura Health. Before entering the health care industry, she served in key leadership roles in the K12 Education field and private IT sector.
