June is Pride Month and an opportunity to take time to intentionally celebrate LGBTQIA+ culture and the diversity of our staff and patient community.
LGBTQIA+ stands for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer or Questioning, Intersex, Asexual or Ally, and the + represents the expansiveness of different identities outside of these definitions. At BCH, members of the LGBTQIA+ community and allies contribute to our expanded awareness and understanding of the constructs of gender and sexuality and their intersection with health and well-being.
This year, to kick off Pride month, Boulder Community Health participated in Out Boulder County’s Rainbows Over Boulder County Flag Raising in partnership with local government and businesses to increase LGBTQIA+ visibility during the month of June. As such, we raised the Progress Pride Flag at noon on Thursday, June 1.
