The financial impacts of the pandemic continue to be felt at BCH and have created many challenges for our health care system. That’s why BCH has committed to thoughtfully reviewing our services on a regular basis to ensure we meet the needs of our community in a manner which financially sustains our non-profit organization into a strong future.
Based on that analysis, we have made the difficult decision to close BCH’s Pediatric Outpatient Rehabilitation services, effective Friday, Dec. 9, 2022. Pediatric Outpatient Rehabilitation services will not be available at BCH after that date.
Closing a service never feels good, and I want to stress that this decision in no way reflects the caliber of care provided by our pediatric rehabilitation team. Our pediatric rehabilitation team consists of talented therapists that have provided a huge service to a great number of children and young adults in our community for many, many years. Unfortunately, over time it has been particularly challenging to provide pediatric rehabilitation services in a manner that is financially sound.
In order to make this transition as seamless as possible for our patients, BCH is expanding our partnership with Children’s Hospital Colorado — one of the nation’s top children’s hospitals.
BCH and Children’s Hospital Colorado have had a long-standing, successful Care Alliance partnership that provides pediatric patients and their families with the highest quality of coordinated medical care as close to home as possible. We are expanding the Care Alliance between our two health care systems to provide pediatric rehabilitation services at Children’s Colorado Therapy Care, which includes their Broomfield campus. This means our pediatric rehabilitation patients will be able to continue their treatment with Children's Hospital Colorado providers, who are some of the best therapists in pediatric care.
