Mike Jefferies named a 2022 "Community Hospital CIOs to Know"
Congratulations to BCH’s Vice President and Chief Information Officer (CIO) Mike Jefferies for being named a 2022 “Community Hospital CIO to Know” by Becker's Hospital Review. He was recognized for his important work on implementing technology that advances provider capabilities and operational efficiencies at BCH. Jefferies was listed as one of 64 community hospital CIOs, and 1 of only 2 on the list from Colorado.
Hospital CIOs are charged with maintaining a complex IT system, data platform, virtual care and many other responsibilities that help organizations achieve their strategic goals. The role is especially important at community hospitals where organizations treat a large patient geography oftentimes with fewer resources than urban institutions.
“Every health care organization is technology-dependent, but strong leadership can turn technology into a remarkable strategic differentiator,” said Rob Vissers, BCH President and CEO. “In addition to his outstanding leadership, Mike has implemented an amazing array of initiatives—many that helped BCH thrive during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic by expediting technology changes that allowed us to quickly adapt.”
Jefferies joined the BCH team in 2016 and is especially passionate about improving the patient experience and giving providers tools to improve the quality of patient care. He holds an MBA in Healthcare Administration and a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Colorado.
He lives in Louisville and enjoys rock climbing, volunteering in mental health care, seeing live music, rebuilding classic motorcycles and enjoying life in Colorado with his wife, Asna, and two daughters.
