BCH Foundation Announces New Community Collaboration Fund

Boulder Community Health adopted a new Vision last year: Partnering to create and care for the healthiest community in the nation. And the BCH Foundation is evolving beyond its historic focus in order to fully support this emphasis on magnifying community impact through establishing thoughtful partnerships between BCH and other organizations impacting individual and public health.
For 40 years, the Foundation has been enhancing health care in our community through supporting the work of Boulder Community Health. Donations to the Boulder Community Health Foundation have been used to support BCH expansion, enhance local patient care and bring advanced medical technology to BCH. All donations to the BCH Foundation were used to directly support BCH and its patients.
New Community Collaboration Fund
On Saturday, May 12 at our BCH Foundation Spring Gala we announced the establishment of a new Community Collaboration Fund, which will promote sustainable collaboration across community organizations that intersect with the treatment and care of our community. These partnerships will enable us to collectively work toward making our community the healthiest in the nation by further investing across the continuum of care.
The Foundation also announced the first three recipients of Community Collaboration Fund grants:
Being homeless makes it much more difficult to access medical treatment and preventive care. This grant will be used to expand onsite health care at Bridge House Path To Home program and improve case management services that are vital in connecting the homeless with appropriate treatment and rehabilitation services.
BCH cares for about 9,000 inpatients a year, many of whom have children at home who face enormous challenges when a parent is critically ill. This grant will expand our current partnership beyond helping families dealing with outpatient cancer treatment to helping support families with patients in the Family Birth Center, inpatient cancer unit and Behavioral Health Department.
1 in 10 children in Boulder County will be sexually abused by the time they are 18. Blue Sky Bridge supports child abuse investigations while providing victims and their families with support in a safe and child-focused environment. Until last fall, many child victims of sexual assault or abuse living in BOCO had to drive to Loveland or Arvada for a pediatric sexual assault exam. Today, Blue Sky Bridge can perform those medical exams on-site thanks to their newly renovated space and a partnership with our Boulder Community Health Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners. This grant will help support this vital program.
