Patient Story: Heart Attack Survivor Kathy Kleam Thanks 'Dr. Angel'

Last month Kathy Kleam of Lake Dallas, Texas was visiting Winter Park for her annual vacation with her three sisters. On the first day of the trip, Kathy was stricken with a heart attack.

"Being flown in to Foothills Hospital, I wondered if I was going to make it," Kathy wrote in an August 15 thank you letter to Boulder Community Health.

"Upon arrival at the emergency room, I was quickly taken care of from the registration personnel, through the RNs, and especially the cardiologist, Dr. Nelson Trujillo (a.k.a. Dr. Angel). All who assisted me were comforting, caring and reassuring," she wrote.

Last year, Kathy and her husband, Bob, (pictured) celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Retired, they spend their time traveling, volunteering for various programs at their church, and being involved in their grandchildren’s lives.

Kathy credits Boulder Heart Cardiologist Dr. Nelson Trujillo with a successful stent surgery and credits the care she received from staff at Foothills Hospital for her recovery.

"I just felt safe and knew that I would be properly treated by this team, and that I had the great fortune of being at this hospital," she wrote. "The hospital staff was generous in their care during my recovery."
