BCH Foundation Appoints New President Grant Besser
After an extensive search, the Boulder Community Health Foundation has chosen Grant Besser as its new President, effective October 17, 2016. Besser will take the reins from BCH board member Dee Perry, who has been serving as the Foundation’s interim President since February.
Besser comes to BCH from Teach for America, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening equity and excellence in education. As Chief Marketing Officer, Besser was instrumental in expanding that organization’s national brand presence, developing key partnerships and supporting the organization’s teacher recruitment and fundraising efforts. Prior to Teach for America, Besser served in senior management positions at Warner Bros. and Yahoo.
“Grant is the clear choice to lead the Foundation during this time of growth, change and opportunity for Boulder Community Health,” stated Perry. “He is extremely personable and highly experienced in building relationships, which are critical for an effective Foundation President.”
“I’m very excited to join the Foundation and the BCH leadership team,” Besser said. “My passion is to work in a capacity where my efforts directly and positively impact others. Fundraising is about more than obtaining financial contributions – it’s about forming long-term relationships and identifying opportunities to improve our community. I look forward to building upon the Foundation’s substantial accomplishments in those areas.”
Besser has lived in Boulder for the past seven years with his wife and three sons. He is a graduate of Emory University in Atlanta.
Dr. Robert Vissers, BCH President/CEO said, “I want to welcome Grant to the BCH family. He is ideally qualified to expand our support base and help us discover new ways to serve our community.
“I also want to thank Dee Perry for the incredible job she did as interim Foundation President,” he continued. “We are fortunate to have benefitted from her many skills and dedication to helping others.”
For more than 35 years, charitable gifts to the BCH Foundation have been used to enhance the comfort and care of hospital patients, address unmet community health care needs and place BCH at the cutting edge of high-tech medical advances.
