New Award Recognizes Excellence in the Delivery of Health Care

Boulder Community Health pediatric nurse Patrice “Trice” Ansbaugh is the first recipient of a new statewide award for clinical expertise introduced last month by the Colorado Hospital Association (CHA).

The Colorado Health Care Star award, launched in February 2015, was developed to recognize clinical professionals who exceed expectations in the delivery of health care. Ansbaugh was chosen as the inaugural recipient of the award. Nominees came from health care organizations throughout the state of Colorado.

With more than three decades of nursing experience, Ansbaugh is a valuable asset to her patients and colleagues at Boulder Community Health.

Michele Sternitzky, Director of Medical/Surgical Nursing at Boulder Community Health, who nominated Ansbaugh for the award, explains: “Trice exemplifies a true Health Care Star. Patients have nothing but kind words to say about her compassionate care, and our staff regularly taps into her vast knowledge and willingness to help. As a care giver and an educator, Trice’s colleagues see her as a leader. Nursing is privileged to have her in the profession.”

CHA represents 100 hospitals and health systems throughout Colorado, providing information on health issues, hospital data and trends for the media, policymakers and the general public. The new CHA award is co-sponsored by American Sentinel University, an accredited online provider of health care degree and certificate programs.
