Todd Bigatel, MD

About

Todd Andrew Bigatel, MD, is a board-certified internist with more than 20 years experience. He has worked as a hospitalist for most of his career, however, his path to become a hospitalist was unique. Dr. Bigatel began working as a hospitalist while doing his fellowship and post-doctorate research fellowship in endocrinology at the University of Pittsburgh. While at the University of Pittsburgh, he not only worked directly with patients as a hospitalist but was fortunate to simultaneously publish groundbreaking research about the cell cycle of pancreatic beta cells and human beta cell transplant. Eventually, he decided to pursue a career focused on patient care and has worked as a hospitalist ever since.

Dr. Bigatel completed his internal medicine residency and internship at Dartmouth Medical School at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, located in Lebanon, NH. He received his medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies. He is happy to return to Boulder as he completed his undergrad here at CU!

Prior to working for Boulder Community Health, Dr. Bigatel was the chair of the Department of Medicine, Clinical Medical Director and a hospitalist at Utah Valley Hospital, a tertiary care center in Provo, Utah.

Outside the hospital, Todd is a musician and composer. He co-wrote a musical with his wife, Tanya Taylor, which premiered in New York City with critical acclaim. Todd enjoys skiing, hiking, biking and is an avid fan of ski racing. He spends most of his free time in Park City, UT.
