About
Dr. Fahrbach is an established and highly regarded physician who is well
awarded after a career start in academic medicine where he earned numerous
accolades for his quality and patient-centered care. After serving as
Director of the Interventional Radiology Residency and Fellowship programs,
and being the youngest radiologist to be presented the Chancellor’s
Distinguished Teaching Award, Dr. Fahrbach moved to Boulder after being
attracted to the independent mindset of the Boulder Community Health System,
and to raise his two children in his wife’s native State of Colorado.
With a focus on providing the community with personalized treatments typically
only found in large academic medical centers, Dr. Fahrbach understands
the importance of avoiding the trap of conventional, standardized therapies
that so often fail patients. He has academic-forged expertise in cancer
treatments including Y90 radioembolization, transarterial chemoembolization
(TACE), microwave ablation, cryoablation, and radio-frequency ablation.
His oncology background includes numerous publications and clinical trials,
and his technical skills were established from the high demands at some
of the best cancer centers in the nation. He provides comprehensive cancer
care by offering initial diagnosis with safe, minimally invasive biopsies,
as well as adjunctive procedures including chest ports and spine interventions
such as vertebroplasty with ablation.
Dr. Fahrbach also specializes in vascular diseases including the newest
approaches in treating deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism, which
are commonly encountered at higher elevations. He is an expert in end
stage liver disease including complicated liver procedures such as TIPS,
DIPS, and BRTO in the setting of cirrhosis. His educational programs for
nonsurgical treatment of uterine fibroids, pelvic congestion syndrome,
varicocele, and peripheral arterial disease has helped train and mentor
numerous medical students, residents, and fellows.
Dr. Fahrbach is married to Dr. Marissa Fahrbach, DNP, CRNA, who also works
in Boulder, and they consider themselves lucky to raise their children
in an environment prioritizing a balanced lifestyle, health, and well-being.
His pastimes include all things active, particularly hiking, skiing, jiu-jitsu,
yoga, fishing, and golf.
