Michael Stanger, MD

About

Dr. Stanger began his career after residency in the Bay Area of California where he worked in an array of settings for nine years, including private practice,  inpatient, psychiatric emergency and in corrections at San Quentin Rehabilitation Center. In his private practice, he focused on the use of ketamine in psychotherapy.

Dr. Stanger relocated to Colorado in 2020 and worked in Psychiatric Emergency Services (PES) at Denver Health before taking his current position at BCH, covering the inpatient unit and provider outpatient care.

Philosphy of Care: embracing a bio-psycho-social model focused on understanding the personal story of each patient and determining how each person arrived at this moment. Then, address individual needs through appropriate psychological strategies, medication management and biological interventions.

His interests outside of work include cycling, adventure backpacking and trekking in diverse outdoor environments for multipe days.
