Camilo Ortega, MD

About

Dr. Ortega is a board-certified internal medicine physician at Internal Medicine Associates of Boulder.

He specializes in primary care and lifestyle medicine.

Originally from Colombia, Dr. Ortega received his medical degree from Universidad El Bosque, Escuela Colombiana de Medicina, Bogotá, Colombia. He went on to complete his post graduate studies as a resident in internal medicine at University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine, at the Palm Beach Regional Campus, located in Atlantis, FL.

Dr. Ortega has been a primary care physician, providing care for those with chronic conditions in the Duke University Health System at the Duke Heritage Clinic, located in Wake Forest, NC, and at Vidant Health (today East Carolina University Health) for the Tarboro Multispecialty Clinic in Tarboro, NC. Prior to this, he was a practitioner in Colombia practicing primary care, hospital and emergency medicine. 

Dr. Ortega enjoys playing the guitar, soccer and engaging in high-intensity strength training. He also loves meditation and spending time with his family.

Philosophy of Care

Dr. Ortega is passionate about educating, advising and treating patients with chronic conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and obesity. Treating each patient holistically, and as if they were a part of his family, Dr. Ortega genuinely enjoys teaming with his patients to develop plans based on their needs and beliefs and experiencing how these lifestyle changes can improve their quality of life.
