Two Emergency Departments

Boulder Community Hospital has two Emergency Departments that are both open 24 hours a day.

On site radiology, laboratory and intensive care clinicians are always there ready to handle emergencies at both hospitals.

The Emergency Department at the main hospital, located at North Broadway and Balsam in Boulder, is a designated level III trauma center. It is a 22-bed unit staffed by board certified emergency medicine physicians, experienced emergency nurses and trauma technicians.

After patients are evaluated and stabilized, those who are critically ill have 24-hour access to the hospital interventional cardiac cath lab, surgery and imaging services, if necessary, and to the hospital's 16-bed intensive care unit.

The second Emergency Department is located at Boulder Community Foothills Hospital on the east side of Boulder at the intersection of Foothills Parkway and Arapahoe. The Foothills ER emergency team includes the same group of experienced, board certified emergency medicine physicians who work at the main campus, with the doctors rotating between the two hospitals. The nurses and trauma technicians also work at both campuses.
