Protecting Health Information

Maintaining the privacy of our patients’ personal information is very important to us. Boulder Community Health follows the privacy requirements set forth by the federal government under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) as well as state law.

To help ensure that health information is secure, BCH uses a secure messaging service for all email communication that contains Protected Health Information (PHI). All emails sent by BCH and our affiliated physician clinics that contain PHI are encrypted and unreadable during transit. These emails are sent to a Secure Message Center website where the information can be transformed back to readable text which can then be viewed by the recipient of the email.

If you’ve received an encrypted email from BCH, click here to see the steps that allow you to view your message.
